Cochin Herald was started in 1992,at Mattancherry in Kerala as a Malayalam News Weekly.It was founded by Late Dr Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Asharaf who was a progressive thinker and an avid lover of literature.As a mentor, Dr Asharaf was a person who always believed in truth and lived for truth.It was his vision of unbiased journalism which made him think of launching a weekly newspaper aimed at providing the readers with factual news and views. Dr Asharaf was a PhD holder in Islamic History from the University of Kerala and a very sincere and selfless social activist. His contributions in the field of journalism and service to humanity will always be remembered. Owing to the advent of technology development and with a vision for future Ansif Ashraf,the son of Dr S.A.M. Asharaf transitioned the newspaper into a Business Magazine in 2012.The first Cochin Herald Business Magazine was launched by Shri Oommen Chandy,Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala in 2012 with Shri K.C. Joseph, Minister for Information & Public Relations and Norka.In a quest to find unique stories to read, Ansif Ashraf founded CH Books in 2015.It is a well established and well-respected publishing house.The first book published by CH Books was authored by His Excellency Dr Rashid Alleem,Knowledge Ambassador of United Arab Emirates and Goodwill Ambassador of United Nations.
The first printed edition of Cochin Herald was launched on the auspicious day of 1st November 1992 as a weekly newspaper.
